Expaniderm pioneers win Alpha Innovator of the Year Award
Expaniderm is pleased to announce that the 2016 ICIS Alpha Innovator of the Year Award for Product/Process Development goes jointly to Mr Marc Swan and Professor Jan Czernuszka. Both are Directors of Expaniderm's parent company, Oxtex.
It is the meeting and work of Mr Swan and Professor Czernuszka in the early 2000s that led to the development of intelligent self-inflating tissue expanders and the establishment of Oxtex and the launch of Expaniderm in April this year.
"The initial response to the product has been very positive," said Professor Czernuszka. "Veterinary surgeons are able to solve problems in horses and dogs that they were never able to do before. We are also getting invaluable data that is helping further improve the technology – a win-win situation,"
Mr Swan is planning clinical studies for London in 2017, and Mr Zamri Radzi, a Malay dental surgeon is leading the 'Malaysia cross bite' trials.
Oxtex is aiming to achieve sales in human applications of some £100m by 2021 and to double this by 2025-26.
David Jackson, CEO of Oxtex said, "The unique and integral partnership between Swan and Czernuszka led to a pioneering novel solution for use in humans, and for the first time ever, in animal applications."
The ICIS award is one of a number that Oxtex has received since it was established in 2011.
